About Fauna Speak
What does ‘Fauna Speak’ mean?
The term ‘fauna’ is synonymous with animals and animal life; it can often be found in conjunction with flora, describing the plant life of a particular area. I chose the name ‘Fauna Speak’ because it is my greatest joy in this life to connect with animal beings, both domestic and wild, as we remember our collective language. To communicate on their behalf, strengthen interspecies bonds and restore a greater sense of kinship and collaboration.
What does your logo represent?
My logo was created by my dear friend, Rachel Hamann of Dot and Cross Studio. She lovingly brought my vision into form featuring the medicine wheel in its traditional colors; for me a deeply resonant interspecies lens steeped in story, connection and place. At the top is a Pelican in flight, and the bottom a Grey Whale migrating. These two have been powerful guides and guardians along my journey along with the Yak in the center of the wheel. I lived alongside Tibetan Yaks while beginning my journey of animal communication and, as ancestors to the buffalo, seemed the perfect focal point with its pronounced eye of intuition. Kentucky Goldenrod to the East and California Poppy to the West are emblematic of my homes and personal migration. The spiral sun and crescent moon communicate both earthen and celestial cycles. The medicine wheel itself has a snake-like presence, alluding to the Tibetan symbol of rebirth.
